Darjeeling Dairies

You live, you travel and you make friends (not necessarily in this particular order, but this is what you should do with your life). Happiness means different things to different people, for me this is it. And here I am, sharing a part of my somewhat-happy-life in few snaps. Hope you like it. 🙂

A couple of months back I was in Darjeeling, a beautiful little hill station, the queen of the hills, away from the maddening city life.

_MG_4141We reached Darjeeling on a cold Christmas morning and it looked something like this.

_MG_4155.jpgStreet art; came across this when we were strolling around and soaking in the beauty of this charming little hill station.

_MG_4214At the end of the first day, returning to our hotel; the Bhutia Busty Monastery looked even more peaceful at dusk.

_MG_4144-2Blue mountains! – How can you not fall in love with this place?

_MG_4173 A walk through the Tea garden. A walk to remember.

_MG_4189.jpgThe majestic Mt. Kanchenjunga.  The quintessential Kanchenjunga picture I wanted to click for ages. Finally happened.

Walking aimlessly on the streets of Darjeeling. Our plan was not to plan anything.

An 18th century temple hidden amidst sublime greenery

‘Garpanchakot’

Location: Purulia, West Bengal, India

Situated only at 250 kilometers from Kolkata. If you want to unwind and relax in the lap of nature, this is the place to be. The panchet hill offers an amazing picturesque and panoramic hilltop view of the whole area. Apart from the lush  greenery and beautiful landscapes, this place is associated with a 1500 years old history of the Singh Deo dynasty. The only remains of this kingdom are the temple ruins and a few broken pillars of the palace on the Panchet foothills that stands still as the silent testimony to the Bargi attack during 18th century.
